Children are dying of thirst! See how you can help them with Penny Appeal
Penny Appeal, the humanitarian UK charity established in 2009 and working in over 30 countries worldwide with the ultimate goal to alleviate poverty worldwide is appealing for your pennies in order to relieve thirst in desperate communities around the world. Consider that three children die every minute from drinking dirty water somewhere in the world. How can such a thing be happening? Penny Appeal is taking effective and immediate action in order to permanently relieve the thirst of thousands of children by building a deep well in their community. It's called the PennyAppeal Thirst Relief program.
The Penny Appeal approach is simply to build a well that brings clean drinking water to the entire community. It's a simple approach and it's a lasting method of solving the deadly dirty drinking water problem. With this simple, direct water solution, PennyAppeal is providing clean, safe water for drinking, washing, growing crops, and feeding their livestock. This will certainly lead to thousands of healthier lives and possibly a way out of poverty in the future.
Without these wells, women and children in many desperately poor developing countries usually walk on the average of over three miles to collect clean drinking water carrying up to twenty litres back to their homes. This is why so many skip that trek and wind up drinking diseased water that's already on hand. Although building a well would be expensive in most western countries, it is surprisingly low cost in these developing countries. In fact, a well can be built for as little as 300 GBP. Those who donate can do so as a one-time donation or choose the 25 GBP monthly option.
Once Penny Appeal receives your full donation, the assessment process begins to find the best and most needed place to build your well in the country that you chose and with your plaque details. It's very important to Penny Appeal that your well is built in the most needed place so that the most children can benefit from the clean, healthy drinking water that your well will provide. The entire process of finding the most needed place and the complete building of your well usually takes from nine to twelve months.
Upon completion of your well, Penny Appeal will send you a feedback report that contains details on the village where your well was built and the people in that community. Complete photos of the construction and finished well in use. Plus, a framed picture of your well that you can proudly display on your wall. Many of the wells that Penny Appeal builds are in communities that have never had clean, safe drinking water. Therefore, your well will for the first time, provide clean safe drinking water for children avoiding the daily risk of diseases from dirty water and your well could literally save hundreds of lives.

The need for an Islamic Will
Malik related to me from Nafi‘ from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“It is the duty of a Muslim who has anything to bequeath not to let two nights pass without writing a Will about it.”
[Al-Muwatta’ of Imam Malik: 37.1.1]
Writing a will is a religious obligation on every capable Muslim. It protects against many problems and conflicts that could arise after a person’s death. This obligation is more emphasized in the West; Failing to write a well founded will may result in the distribution of ones estate in discord with the Islamic law, and may lead to losses for some of the rightful inheritors.
For example under English law:
|If you do not leave a valid Will, then under English law you are deemed to have died ‘intestate’, and your wealth will be distributed to certain relatives in fixed shares – which are not the same as those laid down by the Shari‘a – or if there are no such relatives, then it will go to the Crown, that is, the government.

Quality Time With Dad: Tips for Muslim fathers
Show your children in simple ways that you love them
Some fathers try to appeal to their children by showering them with gifts rather than giving of themselves. This may cause more harm than good. The simple example of Prophet Muhammad is much better, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. When his daughter Fatima (May Allah be pleased with her) would come to him, the Prophet used to stand up, kiss her, take her hand, and give her his seat.. full article
Islam & health
From an Islamic perspective health is viewed as one of the greatest blessings that God has bestowed on mankind. It should be noted that the greatest blessing after belief is health, as narrated in the following Hadith:
The final messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mounted the pulpit, then wept and said, "Ask Allah (swt) for forgiveness and health, for after being granted certainty, one is given nothing better than health."
